Recipes Using Blood Orange EVOO

orange brownies, orange olive oil browniesHave you tried the Blood Orange Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil? If not, you must. The flavor profile is crisp, clean and refreshing! Blood Orange can be overpowering as a fresh fruit, but this olive oil is bold enough before the blood oranges, so the taste is very subtle and enough to dress up any dish.

My favorite way to use Blood Orange – first and foremost – is in a batch of brownie mix. Have you ever had a chocolate orange at Christmas time? Similar taste. The options do not end there, here is a decadent and rich Blood Orange Olive Oil cake that you’ll be licking your plate clean after trying.

  • 200 grams all-purpose flour (about 1½ cups*)
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp. kosher salt (or 1/2 teaspoon of table salt)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 navel oranges
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (use juice from the oranges after you have zested them)
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Grease pan and heat oven to 350 degrees. Measure and mix all dry ingredients together with whisk. Zest and juice oranges in one bowl and then add sugar and remaining wet ingredients including eggs. Blend all wet and dry ingredients and pour into greased pan. Bake for 45-60mins where crust should be a golden brown or until toothpick comes out clean. Can top with Swiss Buttercream or Orange Marmalade.
